Dark Days Before Christmas – Reflection

Dear all,

How are you doing? Christmas is almost here, the lights are shining, and I notice in the sessions that many are busy with the work that needs to be done before the Christmas holidays. It almost seems like Christmas is suddenly upon us. For many people, Christmas can be a joyful time, but I notice in the sessions that there are many who are caught off guard by old wounds they thought had already healed. Christmas triggers. The atmosphere of Christmas can evoke old memories of times when you might not have felt as joyful in your family of origin. Complex processes, unspoken feelings, unfulfilled expectations, and loss – these emotions can suddenly resurface.

If you've processed a lot already but still feel the darkness of an old wound drawing you in, don’t let it knock you down. You’re not back to square one. Perhaps the wound is saying, “Hey, things are better now, would you like to take another look at me, at what I might need?” Or maybe the wound is reminding you that it’s important to reconnect with yourself during these days. The hustle, Christmas stress, and busy days can throw us off balance and make us less conscious of taking care of ourselves.

Take good care of yourself, pause to consider what you need, and stay connected with yourself. Awareness is one of the keys.

I wish you the peace and energy you need in the days leading up to Christmas.

Much love,
🎄 Chantal 🎄🙌
